Help Meet

The term “help meet” comes from the King James Version of the Bible in Genesis 2:18, where it is written, “And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” The phrase “help meet” is often interpreted to mean a suitable helper or companion for Adam.

In more modern translations of the Bible, the phrase is often translated as “a helper suitable for him” or “a helper comparable to him.” The idea is that God created Eve to be a companion who would complement and support Adam, helping him in his life and work.

The concept of “help meet” emphasizes the idea of partnership, mutual support, and companionship between a man and a woman in a marriage relationship. It suggests that each partner is uniquely suited to complement and support the other in a way that helps them both fulfill their roles and responsibilities in life.
